Good morning beautiful people! Today’s inspiration is brought to you first by coffee (is it Friday yet?), memories of the Perseid meteor shower earlier this morning and pure joy.
At one point in my young life I wanted to be an astronomer. I have always been fascinated with the stars and planets. Even though my life went down a different path, the little astronomer in me is alive and well.
So alive and well that she was up at 2:30 a.m. this morning taking in the amazement of the Perseid meteor shower around it’s peak. In some places, you could see 40 meteors per hour.
I counted 9 in total over the 2 hour period that my eyes were affixed to the sky.
It was simply amazing.
It produced so much joy that will carry me through the day (along with another cup of coffee).
There was a time when I would not dream of waking up in the middle of the night to watch the stars. My thought process would have been I have work the next day, meetings start at 9 and I need to be present for them.
That is still true but thank goodness for growth, perspective and balance. Now I realize the best way to prepare my mind and heart for my professional obligations is to be present for myself…my WHOLE self.
Sometimes that just may mean waking up at 2:30 a.m. to catch the Perseid meteor shower around its peak.
If you are going to show up for your employer, family, friends, or whatever obligations you have throughout the day, remember one thing…
The best way to show up for others is to first show up for yourself…you WHOLE self.
Because you cannot pour into others if your cup is empty but you can pour more coffee if you happened to be up with me earlier this morning.
Happy Thursday!
