Have you ever said to yourself…
“If I had more money I would be happy.”
“If I had a new car I would be happy.”
“Getting that promotion will definitely make me happy.”
“When I find someone to marry, I’ll be happy.”
Then you get that thing and…
You’re no happier than before you got it! 😯
Why is that?
Because people mistake the temporary euphoria that comes along with achieving those goals as happiness.
But happiness doesn’t take the form of a person, place or thing.
Happiness is self determined and it comes from within.
I’ve observed people that have a lot of money, things and people around them yet they are the most miserable human beings.
Conversely, when I visited India, I saw people with the most meager of living conditions with big smiles on their face. Their happiness radiated.
The lesson for me was this:
Happiness is not something you get, it’s something you are.
Happiness is finding joy within yourself in spite of circumstances.
HAPPY Wednesday! 😘
