Resilience

Good morning beautiful people!!! Today’s inspiration is brought to you by the birds chirping outside my window early this morning (the perfect little alarm clock), weekend memories and, of course, a piping hot cup of morning sunshine.

Yesterday we said hello to Spring.

As an April baby, Spring is my absolute favorite time of year.  What’s not to love?

The air gets warmer. The trees start budding. Flowers start making an early appearance.  Everywhere you look, there are signs of life and of renewal.

And resilience.

Yes, resilience!

This morning as I searched for different meanings for the word spring (other than the obvious ones), I was surprised to see resilience is actually a synonym.

It makes total sense when you think about it.

Think about the famed cherry blossoms that millions flock to see in D.C. every year.  They don’t just wait until the weather warms to do their work and bless us with their beauty.  No, they actually put in work during the harsh cold winter months, going through several stages of growth and development before they are ready to bloom.

Their branches withstand the winter elements…taking on snow, sleet, ice, wind, etc. seemingly with ease.  The end result of their flexibility and resilience is what we see.

The bloom.

The same can be said for us.

We have all gone through one of the longest “winters” the last 2 years.  Harsh circumstances and situations have required us to go through various stages of growth and development.

But with flexibility and resilience, we too can enjoy our spring.

And bloom.

Happy Monday!

P.S. I had the pleasure of attending the kickoff to the Cherry Blossom Festival yesterday in D.C.  And while the trees down by the Tidal Basin were breathtaking, this capture was my favorite.
