Good morning, beautiful people!!! Today’s inspiration is brought to you by the bright beaming sun shining on me as I write this from my front porch, the hummingbird that pays me a visit each morning without fail, and cool, crisp water. (You were waiting for me to say coffee, huh? No worries, pumpkin spice season is loading.)
Last year, I took steps to be more intentional about using my PTO. For years, I banked days for time not promised nor guaranteed. I found myself carrying over those days but never found the time to actually use them.
But as they say, you can’t add more time to your life, just more life to the time you have so last year I exhausted my PTO.
This year, I took it one step further.
In January I scheduled all of my PTO, down to the very last hour. And while I didn’t have firm plans for most of the days scheduled, I knew that I needed to schedule time away from work, even if it was so my mind and soul could do nothing at all.
Slowly.
Monday when I opened up my planner, I saw what I had written all the way back in January for today, Friday August 18th.
It said: ” Mental Health Day. PTO.”
And here we are…today.
Friday, August 18th. Me…sitting on my porch. Doing nothing slowly.
Resting my mind.
Resting my soul.
I share this to remind you to stop stockpiling days for time not promised nor guaranteed.
Give the time you have now, PTO or otherwise, more life.
More of you.
Schedule a mental health day so you can do nothing slowly, too.
Encourage others to do the same.
Happy Friday!
